An active voice teacher, actor and conductor. She recently relocated to Loudoun County, Virginia from Santa Cruz, California.

Alice Christine Hughes has a Voice Studio in South Riding, Virginia. Alice has been an active voice teacher and conductor for 40 years and is a member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) and ACDA (American Choral Directors Association). She works with her students to find a relaxed, natural, and supported tone in a supportive and confidence-building environment. She loves helping students to discover the joy of sight singing and music theory.
Alice has been at home on the stage since her youth. Recent roles include Jack’s Mother – INTO THE WOODS, Yente – FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, Aunt Eller – OKLAHOMA, Mama Rose – GYPSY, Vicki – THE FULL MONTY.
Alice studied voice with Lynelle Frankforter Weins, Robert Bernard and now regularly works with Claudia Catania in New York City (Metropolitan Opera and Broadway credits.) Alice recently retired from 20 years as the Visual and Performing Arts Chair and Director of Choral Music at Pacific Collegiate School (grades 7–12) and 35+ years as co-director of the choirs at St. Lawrence Orthodox Church in Felton, California. Ms. Hughes received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of the Pacific in Music Education magna cum laude, with a choral emphasis and holds a Master of Education degree from Bethany University. She studied conducting with William Dehning and Lawrence McQuerrey at UOP. She has also received additional conducting instruction from Mark Bailey, Peter Jermihov, and Vladimir Gorbik.
In addition to her work as a performer, teacher and conductor, she co-owns Seraphim Six Productions with her long-time collaborator, Anne Schoepp. Seraphim Six offers recordings and digital editions of Orthodox liturgical chant in English.
